Writing Intent
At Moorland Primary School, we believe that our English curriculum should promote children's love of writing and discussion, developing an appreciation of our diverse and rich literary heritage.
We recognise the importance of nurturing a culture where children are passionate about their writing and take pride in their work.
We aim for them to develop the ability to adapt their language and style of writing for a range of contexts. We want to inspire children to be confident in the art of speaking and listening so that they can use discussion to communicate and further their learning.
We believe that children need to develop a secure knowledge base in English, which follows a clear pathway of progression as they advance through the primary curriculum.
At Moorland Primary School, we follow the 'PenPals' handwriting scheme.
Penpals for Handwriting is a complete handwriting scheme for 3–11 year olds, offering clear progression through five developmental stages. It teaches children a fast and fluent handwriting style to help them achieve their potential in writing.
